We are very fortunate indeed that Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Losang Jampa, will be teaching a text called “Narrative of Realizations: Excellent Aspirations” written by the great scholar and practitioner Je Tsongkapa (1357-1419) as an autobiographical account of his studies and realizations. An English translation of the text is available in Professor Robert Thurman’s book “The Life & Teachings of Tsongkapa,”pp.44-50, translated under the title “Destiny Fulfilled.” We are also happy to announce that Artemis Engle has agreed to translate for Rinpoche.
During his life, Je Tsongkapa revitalized Buddhism in Tibet, wrote several authoritative commentaries, and devoted himself to studying, meditating, and teaching. His life was prophesied by the Buddha, who in the Descent to Lanka Sutra said:
Ananda, this young boy who has offered me a crystal rosary will revive my doctrine.
In the future, during the age of degeneration, he will found a monastery called
Virtuous (Ge) at the meeting points of Dri and Den. He will be called by the name of
Lobsang, and will attract a large circle of students, and will establish the tenfold
Dharma practice.
We are delighted that Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche has agreed to teach us this account of Je Tsongkapa’s life, studies, practice, and realizations, and that Artemis Engle has agreed to translate!
This will be a Zoom teaching from MSTC WDC during the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 28th & 29th. Schedule will be as follows for both days: 10:30am-12 noon; Lunch break till 1:30pm; 1:30pm-3pm.
